Para-equestrian riders Meeting - Boneo - Oct 2017

High Performance's Sports Coordinator, Stefanie Maraun, Sports Science and Sports Medicine Coordinator, Dr. Alison Alcock, and National Para-equestrian Selector, Merrilyn Hamilton-Smith, were down at Boneo Park for the Para-equestrian Riders Meeting that took place today.

Over 25 riders and support team members were attending the meeting and the riders who were unable to be present today were able to dial-in to contribute to discussions. Sharon Jarvis, the Para-equestrian Riders Representative had collected feedback and questions from the riders for discussion today.

Para-equestrian pathways from grassroots to high performance were discussed as well as a better pathway from EA to FEI level. New FEI tests, of a more introductory level, will be released soon.

It was proposed and agreed on by riders that a riders committee would be formed.

The WEG selection policy was discussed and it was noted that the 5 Australian Selection Events will be run under FEI rules and all riders wishing to be considered, will need to compete in the Boneo CPEDI in January 2018.

As the 5 selection events will be run under FEI rules, all riders need to ensure they have TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) applications completed before entries.
