ScoreBoard For Smarter Competition Scoring

Part one of a two-part series

A faster, more modern and effective competition scoring system is available. One that makes it easier and more efficient for event organisers and faster for riders and spectators to see results.

Part 1 - ScoreBoard

The ScoreBoard scoring system by Nominate caters for all disciplines except vaulting and carriage driving.  It is widely used around the country already and most of the interschool events also use it, as it calculates the team points as well as the individual placings.

It provides for live scoring - riders and spectators can even download the free ScoreBoard app and get alerts of results and other announcements on their phones.

ScoreBoard is a multi-user system so you can have multiple scorers entering scores simultaneously, which exponentially speeds up the scoring process.

The previous dressage scoring system that EA had on the website used an excel spreadsheet. The system was single user, so you could only have one scorer entering scores at any one time, and the spreadsheet could be difficult to set up.

The ScoreBoard system is totally free to use, and if the event also uses Nominate to take their entries, the two systems link together so that entries automatically flow from one system to the other.  If organisers choose not to use Nominate for their entries, they can still easily import the entries in to the scoring system using an excel spreadsheet, or they can enter them manually.

Scoreboard Key Points:

  • Scoreboard is a standalone scoring system
  • For dressage, it replaces the previous excel spreadsheet scoring system and can be used with paper tests
  • It also caters for Eventing, ShowJumping, Show Horse and Interschool events
  • It’s designed as a back office system that is used as a traditional scoring system based around paper score sheets coming back from judges
  • It has both an online version which acts as a live scoring system and there is also an offline version which can be operated without the need for an internet connection
  • Totally free to use
  • If the event also uses Nominate to take their entries, the two systems link together so that entries automatically flow from one system to the other
  • If organisers choose not to use Nominate for their entries, they can still easily import the entries in to the scoring system using an excel spreadsheet, or they can enter them manually
