Following the cancellation of events in eastern Australia due to the EI outbreak, Swan River Horse Trials Club was given special leave by the FEI to add a CIC 3* to the program for the Brooker Swan River Horse Trials Event on 20-21 October. CIC 1 & 2* and a CICJ 1* classes were already on the program.
The CIC 3* was won by Deon Stokes on BML Blueprint (89.1). Deon also won the CIC 1* on SS Playtime (55.0). The CIC 2* was won by Sonja Johnson on Illicit Liaison (53.2). Winner of the CICJ 1* was Jessica Mason on Just Will (77.5).
The event was only the second held at Brookleigh Estate in WA’s Swan Valley and organizers were very pleased with a total field of over 200 riders and over 3000 spectators. Chairman of Swan River Horse Trials Club Dan Johnson especially praised the sponsors and volunteers in assisting in staging a fantastic event, saying ‘Our aim is to grow this event and as with any equestrian event we can only do this with the help of many volunteers and funding sponsors.’
With so little happening on the equestrian competition scene in Australia at present it’s fantastic to see positive report on a really successful event, and one that’s sure to grow in years to come.
