Toowoomba locals, Neville and Lyn Rose were very happy to see their years of breeding horses for the sport of Jumping continuing to pay off. Their beautiful black gelding Dark Ages was ridden to a very convincing victory by Clem Smith, of Spring Creek.  The Toowoomba round was the second in the Pacific League for the 2008/2009 series. 22 horses competed in the class over a testing track built by Graeme Watts. Second place went to fellow Queenslander Billy Raymont and Stardom with third going to South Australian Amy Graham and Transatlantic. These three combinations posted the only clear rounds in the first round with Dark Ages and Stardom both jumping clear again in the jump off, Transatlantic finished with four faults in the jump off chasing the clock.  Paula Hamood made a return to the World Cup arena after having her fourth child placing fourth with Randlab Caponne  Fifth place was Winfield ridden by Brett Warren with Jamie Winning’s Yandoo Vangelo placing 6th both of these horse’s had four faults then jumped clear.

Winners of the other major classes at the Toowoomba event included Atlanta’s Eventing Gold Medallist Wendy Schaeffer of South Australia winning the Mini Prix with Koyuna Sun Magic, Sydney’s Andrew Inglis taking 1st, 3rd and 5th in the David Overton Memorial Cup with his team of imported warmblood mares. Local boy Tom Sedger won the Junior Championship with Montreal, Pine Mountain's Sam Overton, won the 1.10m Championship with Lucky Dip and Sydney’s Emily Blinkworth won the Young Rider Championship with Argentina. The show also hosted the annual Trans-Tasman Young Rider Team event, which this time saw the girl powered New Zealand Team take home the shield.
