Expressions of Interest for Chef d’Equipe of Young Rider and Junior Teams events in 2009

The National Jumping Committee is inviting persons interested in nominating for the role of volunteers to the above positions for Young Rider and Junior Teams. This invitation is to assist the committee in having a list of interested persons who meet the criteria and at short notice are willing to volunteer their services to travel with Young Rider and Junior Teams invited to compete within Australia or overseas.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities

Chefs d'Equipe are responsible for the coordination and representation of teams or individuals at international competitions. They must attend all technical meetings at international competitions.  The Chefs’ role is to focus on ensuring that their teams’ needs are meet in respect to horses, riders, training arenas and any competition factors. They are expected to consider the needs of each of their team riders and deal with riders on an individual basis.  This is to ensure that the unique characteristics of each rider and their needs are addressed.  They are also responsible for the declaration and withrawal of competitors and horses entered for the team competitions.

Chefs are first and foremost part of team management and are expected to support EA policy.


The following skills and attributes are considered highly favourable for this role.

 

SKILLS

2.  A good level of knowledge and understanding of competition requirements and rules (both EFA and FEI) for jumping.

3.  An ability to provide leadership in team situations.

4.  An ability to handle conflict and manage change.

5.  A good level of organisational and communication skills.

6.  Capacity to deal with the media if required.

7.  Must be able to be contacted by telephone, fax or e-mail at all times during the competition.

8.  Preferable experience in travelling and competing horses internationally

All applicants will be required to pass their local State’s respective "Police Check"

Please be advised that all of the Chef d’Equipe’s travel costs and out of pocket expenses related to the event are the responsibility of the Chef. Some invitations may state that the accommodation and transfers are covered by the host.
