2012 Equestrian Grand Final
Equestrian Australia is proud to present the 2012 Equestrian Grand Final. The Equestrian Grand Final is a spectacular multi-discipline event held at EQUITANA Melbourne 15-18 November at Melbourne Showgrounds.
This competition will showcase the ‘best of the best’ and include nearly 50 of the top riders from around the country. This premiere event will bring together Australia’s elite Equestrian competitors in Dressage, Jumping and Exhibition Eventing annually. Big prizes, big action, big excitement.

How do riders qualify?
Dressage - Fifteen of Australia’s best Grand Prix Dressage riders and horses will be invited to compete in the Equestrian Grand Final - Dressage. The selection of these combinations will be via a series of five qualifying events to be conducted Australia-wide. These are significant Dressage events in their own right held and hold a Grand Prix Freestyle.
From the five qualifying events, the twelve combinations with the highest percentages (from the GPF) will automatically qualify for the Final. Combinations may compete at multiple qualifiers, with only their best result to count. Equestrian Australia reserves the right to award “wild card” entries for an additional 3 riders.
Jumping – Eighteen of Australia’s best Grand Prix Jumping riders and horses will be invited to compete in the Equestrian Grand Final - Jumping. The best placed 15 combinations on the 2012 FEI World Cup point score (Australian League) will be offered a place at the Equestrian Grand Final (based on results from all FEI World Cup qualifiers held in Australia from 01 January 2012 to 15 October 2012).
Equestrian Australia reserves the right to award “wild card” entries for the remaining 3 places in the Final. A rider may ride a maximum of two horses at the final.
Exhibition Eventing – Fifteen of Australia’s best Eventing riders and horses will be invited to compete in the Equestrian Grand Final – Exhibition Eventing. The selection of these combinations will from series of two qualifying events as well as by invitation. From the two qualifying events the top 4 riders will be automatically qualify for the final. Equestrian Australia reserves the right to award “wild card” entries for an additional 7 riders. In Exhibition Eventing a rider may ride any horse in the final that has completed two qualifying rounds at CNC2* events or above in the past 12 months, they do not need to qualify on this horse.
