West Australians steal the show at Sydney World Cup Qualifier

Alison Rowland at Perth World Cup
Harriet Moxham, Sunday, 29 April 2012

Western Australian Show Jumpers, Alison Rowland and David Dobson were the only two double clear rounds in the World Cup Qualifier Class at Sydney.

Alison won the event on her mare Bickley Brook Bella after two very sharp rounds. David Dobson on Akon was second and was also picked as Vikki Roycroft’s favourite for the class, as she described him as “the best indoor rider in the country.” Third, was Tom McDermott on CP Romantic Dream, this will be Tom’s last World Cup Class for a little while as he is venturing overseas for 3 months to work under Gilbert Bockmann.

The course was described by Course Designer, Bradley Longhurst as a “strong course that will get the best out of the horse and the rider.” This was the first World Cup course that Bradley has designed, and he has received nothing but praise from the riders.

The second Equestrian Grand Final Jumping qualifier was staged in front of a packed crowd at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. The top 15 riders after x qualifying rounds will be invited to compete at the Equestrian Grand Final which will this year be staged at EQUITANA, Melbourne, November 15-18 2012.
