Andrews Labor Government saddles up for Werribee Equestrian Centre revamp

The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with planning for a future upgrade of Victoria’s premier venue for grassroots, national and international equestrian sports.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced $50,000 to complete a master plan for the Equestrian Centre at Werribee Park, Victoria.

“As the home of equestrian sport in Australia, riders of all ages and abilities deserve the very best facilities – that’s what this master plan is all about.”

The plan is a major jump forward in a future redevelopment that would boost participation at the grassroots level and support our very best, elite Olympic heroes.

Australia’s equestrian champions have done us proud on the world stage having won 21 Olympic and Paralympic medals and 9 World Equestrian Games medals.

A modern makeover at the Victorian State Equestrian Centre will deliver the state-of-the-art facilities needed to train and nurture the next generation of world class horses and riders.

Master planning will establish a blueprint for future investment at this important facility.

The Labor Government is working hard to keep Victoria’s reputation as the sporting capital by attracting the biggest and best events, including the chance to see the world’s best horse riders in action.

Since 1984, the Centre has featured indoor and outdoor equestrian facilities for major equestrian events and elite training, including dressage, show jumping, show horse, polo and cross country.

It hosts top class events such as Barastoc HOTY, Dressage and Jumping with the Stars, Melbourne 3DE and the World Polo Championships.

These events are a huge boost to tourism, jobs and local businesses, showcasing the best of everything that Victoria has to offer.
