Equestrian Australia Casual Board Vacancy

The casual vacancy on the Equestrian Australia (EA) national board is to be filled by Mr Mark Hopkinson of Victoria.

Mr Hopkinson holds degrees in law and commerce and is a chartered accountant with more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance. Mr Hopkinson is currently the owner/director of a property development firm.

Mr Hopkinson’s involvement in equestrian was sparked through his children’s participation in the sport. He is an active member of the Victorian show jumping community and a regular volunteer at events.

Mr Hopkinson said he was pleased to be given an opportunity to contribute his skills and expertise to the governance of the sport.

"I am delighted to be entrusted by the Board to fill this vacancy with the intention of making an immediate contribution to the effective operation of the Board and EA," said Mr Hopkinson.

EA Chairman Dr Warwick Vale welcomed Mr Hopkinson to the board.

"On behalf of the board I would like to welcome Mr Hopkinson to the role, we are pleased to have someone with his professional skills and experience contributing to the sport.”

In appointing Mr Hopkinson the EA Board accepted the recommendation of a nominations committee which included two EA board representatives, a national sport committee chair and state branch chair (appointed by the state branches).

Mr Hopkinson’s casual vacancy will conclude in October 2015.
