The 2014 MIHT Wrap Up

The 57th annual Melbourne International Horse Trials (MIHT) enjoyed blue skies this Queen's Birthday Weekend drawing record crowds of over 10,000 fans to Victoria's Werribee Park to witness Australia's top horses and riders compete.

The MIHT organisers acknowledged that the event owed its success to all the sponsors, spectators, competitors and volunteers who made the event possible.   We are all looking forward to working together to make the 2015 Melbourne International Horse Trials even bigger and better.Shane Rose and his horse Shanghai Joe took out the top honours, winning the CCI3* class after a nail-biting finish. Shanghai Joe, a former racehorse, was also awarded Racing Victoria’s Off the Track Best Performed Thoroughbred award.  

Western Australia’s Gabrielle Pither and her horse Max Almighty led the CCI2* class from start to finish and helped secure Australia victory over the New Zealand in Oceania Eventing Championships of Young Riders.

Wilhelm Enzinger cleaned up in the CCI1* class claiming first place aboard Paihia Wihelm and third aboard Bellhaven Sanskrit. Enzinger also placed second in the CCI2* with Wenlock Aquifer.  

Thai rider Naphatra Lerdsipjaroen won the CCIJ1* aboard Tainui Lad; Lerdsipjaroen has been based in Victoria at Wilky Park since early this year aiming to qualify for the Thai National team and ride at the 2014 Asian Games taking place in September.
