Sammi Birch

Sammi Birch is from Maitland, NSW, where her father bred racehorses and eventers. The racehorses that didn't make the grade were given to Sammi to event and she spent her teenage years, and into her early twenties, riding a variety of Thoroughbreds which she competed throughout the levels.

In 1999 Sammi competed at the famous Badminton Horse Trails riding one of her fathers homebred horses 'Hunter Red' where they finished in 7th place when Sammi was only 21 years of age.

In 2002 Sammi and her horse Frederick Hunter were named as part of the Australian team for the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez where they finished 15th individually.

In 2016 Sammi and Hunter Valley II travelled as the Australian Eventing Team reserve combination for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Last year Sammi was part of the reserve team of riders taken into the Tokyo 2020 Eventing pre-departure training camp in preparation for the Olympic Games.

Sammi currently has a string of talented horses which she is campaigning at the top level of the sport.
