What does EA Coach insurance cover?

Through their EA membership, EA Coaches are covered for their non-income-earning equestrian activities, including Personal Accident and Public Liability cover.

Coaches who elect to take Coach Insurance through EA are additionally covered by Personal Accident, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance at all times while coaching within the level of their EA Coaching Accreditation.

Full details of what's covered — including policy limits and excesses — are set out in the coach insurance summary and policy documents in the Coaches → Important Documents section of the EA Insurance Hub.

Cover applies to individuals, not businesses
EA Coach insurance covers insured coaches as individuals. The "insured" under the policy are the coaches themselves, not any separate company run by a coach. In practice:

  • A coach coaching in their own name is covered as an EA Coach.
  • A coach operating as a sole trader is covered, because under that structure personal and business liabilities are indivisible.
  • A coach operating through a Pty Ltd company remains covered as an individual, but the cover does not extend to the company itself.

Additional cover
If you need cover beyond coaching — such as agistment, starting or training horses, or other business activities — additional policies can be arranged. Contact the Gow-Gates Equine Team at [email protected] to discuss.
