The countdown is on for the Sydney International Horse Trials 2017

World class horses and riders will shortly be settling into the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in preparation for the start of the 2017 Sydney International Horse Trials 11-14 May.

This year will mark the 60th anniversary of the iconic event. This milestone will be celebrated party on the Saturday evening (13 May). Everyone is invited to join the fun and enjoy the premiere of “Riding High, The Early Years”, part 1 in a series of films following the journey of Australia’s extraordinary eventing history.

The Sydney International Horse Trials program includes CIC and CCI classes for 1*, 2* and 3* as well as an EvA105cm and the popular Young Event Horse classes (4-6yo).

Visiting rider Virginia (Ginny) Thompson (NZL), two time winner of Puhinui CCI3*, will be contesting the CIC3*on her talented mare Star Nouveau. The pair will spend two months in Australia competing to gain international experience.

“I am really excited to be riding at Sydney,” commented 25-year-old Ginny “I have never been to the venue before but have heard about the wonderful facilities and of course know it was the site of the Sydney Olympic Equestrian events. I’ll be so interested to compare it to our events in New Zealand.”

The CIC3* class will be a very important class for those hoping to impress selectors ahead of the Senior Oceania Challenge (AUS v NZL) in Melbourne in June. Young Riders will also be out to impress in their bid for the Oceania YR Team.

Once again the 3 star courses have been designed by world renowned course designer
Mike Etherington-Smith (GBR).  Olympic Gold medallist, Stuart Tinney, has designed all the other levels.
