Double victory for Olympian Hoy

Seven time Olympian Andrew Hoy is celebrating two victories today after winning the Haras du Pin (FRA) CCI3* and CIC3* overnight.

Riding the Australian bred thoroughbred Algebra, Hoy took out the CCI3* title with a clear cross country round and just four penalties in the show jumping. The pair’s final score of 55.8 was well clear of the second placed French combination of Cedric Lyard and Rejane Du Grasset who finished on 70.50.

Pairing with his London Olympic Games horse Rutherglen in the CIC3*, Hoy produced a tidy cross country round adding just one time penalty to his dressage score, which saw him finish on a total of 31.1.

“Huge thanks to my wonderful horses, owners and support team,” Hoy said on Twitter.

Hoy, who is aiming to make Rio 2016 his eighth Olympic Games, will now turn his attention to the prestigious Burghley (UK) CCI4* to be held from 3- 6 September where he has entered Rutherglen. Hoy is one of seven Australian riders entered at this event.
