EOI for Young Rider Trans-Tasman Team Test on Borrowed Horses

Equestrian Australia has received an invitation from Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) for riders to compete in a borrowed horse event, Young Rider Trans-Tasman Team Test, taking place 24th -26th January 2020 at Larsens Showjumping Championships, Gisborne, NZ .

We would like to invite members who meet the age category of 14 – 21 years of age as at 1st August 2019 to indicate their interest to compete at this competition.

The invite is for:

  • 4 Riders, aged 14 – 21 years to compete in 120cm Show Jumping Event
  • 1 Chef d’Equipe

The Show Organising Committee will provide the following:

  • Borrowed Horse
  • Team vehicle in Gisborne
  • Accommodation
  • Some meals
  • Some sightseeing and activities

The Riders/Chef d’Equipe will be responsible for:

  • Return airfares
  • Insurance
  • Uniform 
  • Any additional costs

 The competition will be run according to the rules in the ESNZ Jumping rule book as listed:

6. Competitions common to New Zealand v Australia on borrowed horses.

6.1. Young Rider Trans-Tasman Teams Event.

6.1.1. The course will be set at 1.20m with ten to eleven obstacles, including two doubles. The second round will be the same as the first.

6.1.2. First and second round speed equals 325m/mi, jumpoff at 350m/min.

6.1.3. The second round will be run in reverse order of teams faults, but teams will ride in original order e.g. one rider from each team.

6.1.4. There may be three refusals allowed per rider.

6.1.5. If eliminated the rider will incur +20 faults on the worst score of the round.

6.1.6. A bonus point will be given when three riders of the same team incurs 0 penalties in a round.

6.1.7. Best three scores to count.

6.1.8. If after the two rounds there is equality of team penalties (excluding bonus points) there will be a jumpoff of one nominated horse from each team. Rider to stay on original horse.

6.1.9. Points allocated; 1st = 5, 2nd = 3, 3rd = 1 (plus bonus points if applicable)

6.1.10. Jump-off. On occasions that teams other than New Zealand are competing, and one of them is equal with New Zealand or Australia, there is no need for a jumpoff. A jumpoff will always take place when Australia is equal to New Zealand.

The form can be located on the left-hand side of the menu under the tab "Expression of Interest". Please note only applications submitted via the MyEA Portal will be accepted.

The EA Jumping Committee would like to make all applicants aware that this event takes place the same weekend as the 2020 Boneo Classic in Victoria.
