Expressions of Interest open to host the Australian Jumping Championships

Equestrian Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest from Organising Committees to host the Australian Jumping Championships in 2027, with a first option to host again in 2028.

Conducted for and on behalf of the Equestrian Australia Jumping Committee (EAJC), the Championships are the pinnacle event on the national jumping calendar — and the EOI makes clear it should stand on its own. The event must be run as an event in its own right rather than folded into an existing show, across a minimum of four and a maximum of five consecutive days of competition, to a standard equivalent to an FEI CSI3* competition in both facilities and delivery.

What's involved

The Championships cover the full spread of national divisions: Senior, Young Rider, Junior, Children, Mini Prix, Futurity and Amateur.

Successful Organising Committees will need to demonstrate:

• Arenas — a main ring of at least 4,000sqm with a minimum 50m short side, plus a second competition ring (committees are strongly encouraged to match Ring 1's dimensions to strengthen their application), and warm-up arenas of at least 1,500sqm with a 30m minimum short side.
• Equipment — FEI-approved safety cups across all arenas, electronic timing with a visual display, rails to a maximum of 14kg, cups 18–20mm deep, and both an in-ground (with plasticine landing lath) and above-ground water jump for Arena 1.
• Stabling and grounds — stabling for every horse entered in Championship classes, wash bays, a compliant swabbing box, truck parking, camping, power and amenities.
• Officials — a Ground Jury of at least three with an FEI-listed Chair, a Chief Steward from the FEI Jumping list, and a Course Designer at FEI Level 3–4 by agreement with the EAJC. Committees must also make room for up to three Level 2 Assistant Course Designers and up to three Assistant EA Stewards, with those opportunities advertised nationally.
• Prize money — a minimum total pool of $90,000, with at least $30,000 of that allocated across the three competitions making up the Senior Australian Jumping Championships (both figures CPI-adjusted for 2028).

Beyond the field of play, Organising Committees take on a media and communications plan due three months out, a risk management plan due six months out, a dedicated press centre with internet access, EA branding obligations, and a full post-event report including a profit and loss statement within two months of the event finishing.

What's on offer

EA grants sponsorship rights — including naming rights — to the host Organising Committee, and additional funding may be available through State Branches. A Technical Delegate is appointed by the EAJC in consultation with the OC to support preparation and delivery.
