North West Equestrian Group received funding for arena lighting

Last Chance for Clubs to apply for Club Development Grants

Clubs still have time to submit an EA Club Development Grant application with the submission period closing Sunday 22 March 2015.

The initiative offers affiliated clubs a chance to share in $30,000 of funding assistance.

Last financial year there were 16 clubs to benefit from the program, which offers funding for the improvement of club facilities as well as building membership and the development of equestrian activities at the community level.

The North West Equestrian Group was one of the inaugural recipients of a club development grant and the funding they received was put towards the installation of arena lighting.

The Club is located in Hughden in central northern Qld, which experiences year round temperatures of 30 degrees and above which restricts the hours in which horse riding can occur.

The provision of lighting allows the facility to extend its hours of operation and thereby increase membership and participation rates.

The club was also able to secure funding from its local council and the addition of the lights has had a huge impact on the local riding community.

Horse sports are a growing activity within the region and the addition of lights provides clubs in the area to increase their membership, participation and riding activities.

Applications have closed since 22 March 2015.
