Marcus Oldham College Announces New Scholarships in Equine Management

Marcus Oldham College has announced three new scholarships in Equine Management to help open up exciting career pathways for graduates, over a cross-section of equine industries.

Marcus Oldham’s Diploma of Equine Management is a one-year course, internationally recognised by major sectors of the horse industry and aims to equip students with the practical husbandry and business skills necessary for a successful career in the equine industry.

The new scholarships now mean there are five Equine Management scholarships available in total, ranging from $7,500 to $15,000.  The scholarships cover all aspects of Equine Management including thoroughbred racing and breeding, general equestrian, equestrian performance and equine breeding including International Sport Horse breeding.

“A Diploma in Equine Management from Marcus Oldham opens up some of the world’s most exciting and fulfilling career opportunities in equine”, says Marcus Oldham Principal, Dr Simon Livingstone.

“From coaching and training, to horse psychology, dentistry, nutrition, transportation, bloodstock sales and of course, racing, we are looking for the next generation of ambitious and dedicated students with a true passion for horses who want to make their mark in the Equine industry”.

The intensive one-year Diploma of Equine Management is structured equally into three broad areas: practical and horse management skills, equine science and business management.

“The Equine industry continues to grow and offers many interesting and rewarding career opportunities,”  says Warren Sutton, graduate from Marcus Oldham Equine and head horse educator with renowned racing stable, McEvoy Mitchell.

“This time of year, there will be plenty of people watching the Spring Racing Carnival and thinking you need family connections to break into the industry, which is completely untrue.  A Diploma of Equine Management from Marcus Oldham can help open that door for you, whether it be horse racing, polo or equestrian, not to mention the myriad of other careers in equine,” says Sutton.

“I feel so lucky that I have been able to turn a love of horses into a career – I actually get paid to do what I love!”

Applications for Marcus Oldham Equine Management scholarships close on 23rd November. For all scholarship enquiries or to learn more about a Diploma in Equine Management from Marcus Oldham, visit marcusoldham.vic.edu.au or contact 03 5243 3533.
