National Eventing Selectors Announced

Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce that Nigel Nichols has been appointed as the third National Eventing Selector, with his term concluding at the end of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Nigel has extensive experience in the sport of Eventing including as an official at three Olympic Games, veterinary delegate at the Australian International 3 Day Event, a former member of the FEI Veterinary Committee along with numerous other high level international veterinary appointments. Nigel joins Georgia Widdup (Chair) and Nigel Thompson in completing the Eventing Selection Panel.

The appointment was made as per the EA High Performance Appointment and Procedures Policy and the Equestrian Australia High Performance Panel Terms of Reference, following a call for Expressions of Interests and subsequent consultation with the Equestrian Australia Eventing Committee.

In addition, further positive outcomes have developed with Nina Clarke and Steven Bow being appointed as ‘Eventing Development Selectors’ whose role will be in a non-voting observation capacity. This will see them focus on encouraging, and facilitating, succession planning for future cycles with a vision towards Paris 2024. Both Nina and Steven’s terms will also concluded at the end of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
