National Interschool Championships Showcase the Next Generation of Equestrian Talent
The 2025 Horseland Australian Interschool Championships brought together hundreds of young riders from across the country for four days of spirited competition at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) from 25–28 September.
Hosted by Equestrian NSW on behalf of Equestrian Australia, the event is the pinnacle of the Interschool calendar, showcasing the best young equestrians representing their schools and states in Dressage, Jumping, Show Horse, Eventing, and Combined Training.
This year’s Championships attracted 500 riders aged 5 to 18 and 399 horses from every state and territory. Each competitor earned their place through state qualifying events, making the national finals the culmination of months of dedication, training, and teamwork.
The opening ceremony set an inspiring tone, led by Australian Olympians Shane Rose and Vicky Roycroft, while the closing ceremony celebrated not only champions but also the camaraderie and sportsmanship that define the event.
Queensland arrived in full force, fielding 108 riders from 62 schools, supported by a state training camp focused on teamwork and preparation. Smaller states, including the Northern Territory, proudly showcased the depth of their talent across multiple disciplines, embracing the true spirit of the Championships.
Sydney International Equestrian Centre (SIEC) once again proved an ideal venue, offering world-class facilities across its sand and grass arenas, cross-country course, indoor arena, and extensive stabling and camping areas, a perfect setting for riders and families alike.
For many of these young athletes, the experience marks a defining moment in their equestrian journey.
