Olympic and Paralympic National Selectors Appointed for 2022

Equestrian Australia is pleased to confirm the National Selectors appointed for the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.

Following the relevant appointment procedures, these positions have been assigned for an interim term of twelve (12) months, ending on December 31, 2022, and will include the selection of combinations for the FEI World Championships 2022.

During this interim period EA High Performance (HP) will review the present appointment procedures and National Selection Panel structure in preparation for Paris 2024.

The National Selectors were appointed following a thorough consultation process, with support from the EA Board, National Discipline Committees (Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping), HP Panel, and Para-Equestrian Panel.

It was also considered necessary that some National Selection Panels include a fourth member for the interim period.

The National Selectors are as follows:

Dressage
Maryjane Crabtree
Brett Parbery
Jan Smith
* Reserve: Prue Spurrett

* In the interest of succession planning, a reserve selector has been designated as a non-voting member of the panel and to function in a reserve capacity.

Eventing
Stephen Bow
Claudia Hodson
Nigel Nichols
* Georgia Widdup

* EA High Performance will also look to utilise Georgia Widdup in her capacity as the incumbent Chair of the Eventing Selection Panel, and a lawyer, to assist with the governance, compliance and integrity of the selection procedures associated with High Performance.

Georgia will provide direct oversight and leadership to the Eventing Panel, as well as support to each of the National Selection Panels. She will also lead and facilitate the rider communication processes and any appeal proceedings that may occur.

Jumping
Colleen Brook
Stephen Lamb
Graeme Watts
Rod Brown

To protect the integrity of the selection process and to manage any possible conflicts of interest, it has been agreed to designate a fourth Selector in the discipline of Jumping.

Para-Equestrian
Elaine Greene
Gary Lung
Veronica Steward

The Chair of each National Selection Panel shall be determined in consultation with the Panel members in order to establish an appointment by consensus.

With the appointment of the National Selection Panels now finalised, it is expected that the Qualification Criteria for the FEI World Championships 2022 for all disciplines will be reviewed, approved and announced within the coming weeks.
