Rio 2016 ticket live sales start May 19th for Australian residents

Strong demand expressed for limited inventory during initial request phase

CoSport, the Rio 2016 Authorised Ticket Reseller in Australia, invites green and gold fans to take part in their next opportunity to secure Individual Tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Starting tomorrow May 19, 2015 at 10:00 (Sydney time) via cosport.com.au, Individual Ticket sales will reopen on a first come, first served basis. Available inventory will include any excess tickets from the initial Request Phase including any tickets that were confirmed but not purchased.

The demand for tickets expressed in the initial Ticket Request Phase rivalled that of the London 2012 Olympic Games with Athletics, Swimming, Hockey, Beach Volleyball, and Track Cycling among the most popular sports requested. It is expected that similarly strong interest especially for highly popular event sessions will be expressed in this next sales phase.

“The significant demand expressed through the initial Ticket Request phase confirmed without a doubt that Rio will be the place to be in August 2016. CoSport is working closely with the Australian Olympic Committee and Rio 2016 to secure additional ticket inventory so that as many Australian fans as possible can make the journey to Rio,” said Robert F. Long, President of CoSport.

Due to the high demand and strictly limited starting inventory, CoSport will continue to request additional tickets from the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee.  In total, about 7.5 million tickets for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will be made available for sale though only a fraction will be accessible to fans outside the Host Country Brazil.  Australian fans should visit www.cosport.com.au regularly for the most up to date information on ticket availability including sales timeline.

Our athletes will appreciate the strong fan support in Rio so please continue to stay engaged as the Ticket Request Phase and Live Sales tomorrow are only your first opportunities to secure Individual Tickets for the Games” said Kitty Chiller, Chef de Mission, 2016 Australian Olympic Team. “The Australian Olympic Committee is working closely with CoSport to advocate for greater ticket availability so we can attract the largest possible number of enthusiastic Australian fans in each and every venue.

Fans seeking the convenience of guaranteed event tickets combined with accommodation in Rio should also consider CoSport’s Hotel and Ticket Package options that are offered in a number of configurations and include a wide range of in-demand event ticket options, 3 or 4 star accommodations, daily breakfast, and invaluable support from purchase through departure by the experienced CoSport team further supported by knowledgeable local hosts.

All CoSport offerings for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games are exclusively available through cosport.com.au
