Spring CDI Sees the Cream Rise at Boneo Park

The Boneo Park 2019 Spring CDI has been hailed as a wonderful success by judges, riders and spectators alike.

We were thrilled to be able to offer another CDI event in Australia with CDI competitions for all levels (Pony, Junior, Young Rider, Under 25 and Grand Prix) as well as Para Equestrian, Pony and Amateur Owner Rider and Open Championship classes from Novice to Grand Prix.

With 42 classes across 3 days of competition, the Boneo Park 2019 Spring CDI allowed a great number of dressage enthusiasts to enjoy the thrill of being involved in a CDI. Over 230 combinations from across Australia (and NZ!) took part.

The inaugural Sponsors Team Challenge was a fun addition to the program. Teams were introduced during the well attended Thursday night Welcome Function and it was terrific to see the camaraderie and friendly spirit of competition spill over into the ensuing three days of classes.

The Challenge was won by the Benleigh Equestrian Team! We were proud to watch Arilla and the Fat Pony Cafe fulfil their role as a central spectating hub throughout the competition and then play host to celebrations at the end of each day. Importantly, the weather was (mostly) in party mode too!

The calibre of the competition was tremendous across the event with many riders having to produce results north of 70% in order to grace the podium.

From the Novice and Medium classes to the Prix St Georges, Inter 1 and Grand Prix, our winners were breaking through this barrier. The highest score of the weekend was achieved by Karen Blythe on the incredible Sonic K, a huge score of 78.393 in the Preliminary 1B.

Also posting a fantastic score was young rider Jacinta Abernathy and TS Wildchild in the Preliminary 1B with a stellar 76.726%. The Mulawa Performance Medium 4B saw Janet Seccull ride the stunning mare Maritza to the tune of 75.18 %. In the Benleigh Equestrian PSG Gitte Donvig saluted with 73.824% on Harmonie W,  the Complete Fire Supply Co.

Intermediate II CDN rewarded Riley Alexander and Larenso with 70.49% and Sue Hearn and Remmington took out the FEI World Cup Grand Prix sponsored by Carol Haynes and Skip Williamson with 70.00%.

On the final day of competition just about every single Freestyle class was won with 70% plus scores.  The highlight of the day was the FEI World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle which was taken out by Rozzie Ryan and the ever-improving Jarrah R.
