FEI Level 1 Vaulting Coach Course

Equestrian Australia is pleased to host a four-day FEI Level 1 Vaulting Coach Course from 16–19 March 2026 at Heritage Horse Park, Windsor.

Prerequisite: Participants must have completed their EA Introductory Horse Management, as this is a mandatory requirement for enrolment.

This course also provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to work toward further EA Coach Accreditations.

Course Tutor: John Eccles

The course will be led by internationally respected FEI Course Tutor John Eccles, whose experience and leadership have significantly shaped vaulting both in Britain and worldwide.

John brings:

  • 125 FEI starts and 31 FEI wins as an elite lunger
  • Experience lunging at major championships, including the World Equestrian Games (WEG)
  • A distinguished career supporting his daughters Joanne and Hannah Eccles and their horse WH Bentley at the highest level of international competition
  • Service as an FEI Official, including:
    - Chair of the FEI Vaulting Committee
    - Global leadership in FEI vaulting education for coaches and stewards
    - Appointment as Chief Steward at the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen 2026
    - Extensive experience as a judge, clinician, and educator, mentoring vaulters, coaches, lungers, and officials worldwide

John Eccles is widely regarded as a foundational figure in modern vaulting, transitioning from an elite performance role to international leadership and education, helping shape the sport’s global development and fostering world-class talent.

  2. Observe at the FEI Level 1 Coach Course $60 per day or $240 for the 4 days.
  3. Utilise the FEI Coach Couse pathway to work towards EA Vaulting Lunger or EA Coach accreditations.
