Abby Weel’s Equestrian Journey
At just 15, young Aussie talent Abby Weel made the long trip to Florida, USA in late 2025 to train with the renowned Lars Petersen at Helgstrand USA.
Her Australian Coach, Matthew Dowsley is keeping a close eye on her progress, travelling to Florida for a week to proudly watch Abby as she makes her debut on the international stage.
Abby has already hit the ground running, competing in the prestigious Adequan Global Dressage Festival circuit with her two incredible horses: Espe, who will be competing in the Young Rider classes, and Reitlands Obama, who will take on the Pony classes.
This circuit has become a key training ground for Aussie young riders like Kate Kyros, who’ve spent nearly six straight weeks of competition to refine their skills and take their riding to the next level.
Abby’s journey is one of passion, dedication, and growth. Each time the Australian National Anthem plays after her achievements, it’s a powerful reminder of all the hard work and sacrifices she’s made to get here.
The future is looking bright for this rising star. We can't wait to see where this journey takes her next!
