Sydney CDI Welcomes Trans-Tasman Rivals as Competition Gets Underway
The 2026 Sydney CDI has commenced in spectacular fashion, with the arrival of New Zealand’s top Dressage combinations setting the stage for an exciting Trans-Tasman showdown.
After a smooth journey across the Tasman, the visiting New Zealand horses have settled in well, travelling comfortably and arriving in excellent condition. Riders and support teams report that the horses handled the trip with ease and have quickly acclimatised to their surroundings at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
Day one of competition delivered strong performances in both the National Intermediate II and Prix St Georges classes, highlighting the depth of talent across the field. Following the presentation ceremony for these events, Sydney CDI proudly hosted the official welcome of the athletes contesting the Trans-Tasman Dressage Challenge.
The ceremony introduced the visiting New Zealand Team alongside their Australian counterparts, marking the beginning of a highly anticipated international contest. Spectators were treated to a vibrant presentation showcasing the camaraderie and competitive spirit that defines this iconic rivalry.
