Australian Young Rider Team Selected for 2026 Trans-Tasman Test - Tamworth

Four of Australia’s emerging equestrian talents have been selected to represent the nation at the 2026 Young Rider Trans-Tasman Test, with the team set to take on New Zealand at the Tamworth World Cup from 8–11 October.

Holly Tompkins, Kaylee Stephens, Olivia Hewitt-Toms and Sienna Shoebridge have been named in the Australian Young Rider Team for the prestigious trans-Tasman competition.

The event will see the Australian and New Zealand teams compete in a borrowed-horse format, presenting the riders with the unique challenge of performing on unfamiliar horses.

The format will test more than just riding ability, with adaptability, horsemanship, communication and the ability to work effectively as part of a team all playing a crucial role in the competition.

For the selected Young Riders, the Trans-Tasman Test provides valuable experience competing in a team environment while representing Australia on home soil.

The annual contest also continues the long-standing sporting rivalry between Australia and New Zealand, with both nations eager to claim trans-Tasman honours at Tamworth.

The 2026 Young Rider Trans-Tasman Test will form part of the Tamworth World Cup program, bringing together some of the sport’s leading competitors and emerging talent from across Australia and New Zealand.
