Australian Jumping Teams Set for Potential Trans-Tasman Challenge in New Zealand

Australian Jumping competitors could represent their country in New Zealand next April, with plans underway for Australian Young Rider and Senior teams to compete in the 2027 Kiwi Super Classic Series.

Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ) Jumping has advised of its intention to invite Australia to field teams for the series, including a Senior Team competition at 1.45m–1.55m level.

The proposed Trans-Tasman Test Matches between Australia and New Zealand will take place at two venues across the North and South Islands, with the first event scheduled for Manfeild Park in Feilding from 2–4 April 2027, followed by Marlborough Equestrian Park in Blenheim from 9–11 April.

The Kiwi Super Classic Series will comprise three events:

  • 2–4 April 2027: Manfeild Park, Feilding, North Island
  • 9–11 April 2027: Marlborough Equestrian Park, Blenheim, South Island
  • 16–18 April 2027: Marlborough Equestrian Park, Blenheim, South Island

Trans-Tasman Test Matches between Australia and New Zealand are proposed for the first two events:

  • 2-4 April 2027: Manfeild Park, Feilding
  • 9–11 April 2027: Marlborough Equestrian Park, Blenheim

The proposed team competitions, Australian Young Rider Team and an Australian Senior Team, would give Australian athletes the chance to compete against New Zealand in a Trans-Tasman team environment, as part of a broader series featuring significant Grand Prix competition.

Among the highlights is the Super Stars Grand Prix, which is expected to offer proposed prize money of NZ$60,000–$100,000 per show, alongside a range of additional Grand Prix classes.

ESNZ has also advised that both venues will provide high-quality stabling and team support, with accommodation options, horse and rider transport assistance, team hospitality and activities planned between the Manfeild and Blenheim competitions.

The series is also expected to receive dedicated media coverage, with photography, video production and live streaming planned for the Trans-Tasman Test Matches and major feature classes.

Formal invitations and further details are expected from ESNZ Jumping later in October.

Once these are received, Equestrian Australia High-Performance Jumping will provide further information on team selection, eligibility requirements and how Australian athletes can express their interest in being considered.

Australian riders interested in the opportunity are encouraged to save the dates, with further details to be confirmed.
