Castlebar Contraband withdrawn from Australian WEG team

Unfortunate news out of the Australian endurance camp on the eve of the event with the announcement that Castlebar Contraband, which was to be ridden by Jennifer Annetts, has been withdrawn from the team due to a minor injury.

Understandably Annetts and her support team are devastated by the news but have made the decision on veterinary advice and in the best interests of the horse.

Annetts and Contraband's connections have pledged their support to the Australian team and will cheer the team on from the sidelines when the event begins on Thursday at 7am local time.

In the team's event the highest placed three athletes will determine the team's classification. All the Australian endurance horses that attended the trot up passed and are deemed fit to start. The Australian Endurance Team is as follows:

Sasha Laws-King and Qacima Du Sauveterre

Sarah McLaughlin and Tonki Dee Boo Shania

Penny Toft and Dream Dancer te

Alexandra Toft and Charlotte te
