Change to FEI rule regarding International non-sanctioned events

At the 2012 FEI General Assembly, the change to the rule about international non-sanctioned events was introduced, whereby the FEI will not allow Athletes, horses and FEI officials to participate in unsanctioned events.

New Articles 113.4 and 156.9 of the FEI General Regulations make an Athlete, Horse or Official ineligible to participate in an International Event or National Event if he/she/it has participated in an unsanctioned event in the previous six months. For these purposes, an ‘unsanctioned event’ is an event and/or a competition that is neither published in the official Calendar nor authorised by a National Federation.

Be this as is may, at this time this rule does not impact non-sanctioned national events held in Australia that the National Federations authorise or have no express objection to, such as local events run outside the NF structure but with the knowledge and acceptance of the NF.

EA members however are not permitted to compete in international non-sanctioned events whether that be in Australia or overseas – this relates to both riders and officials.

If competitors are in doubt, they should check the FEI calendar www.fei.org to determine which international events are sanctioned.

International level events are as follows:

Dressage – CDI level

Eventing – CIC or CCI level

Jumping – CSI level

Endurance – CEI level

Vaulting – CVI level
