Eventing 'State of Origin' Teams announced

The organising committee of the Davcar Horse Floats Qld International 3 Day Event has announced the teams to contest the inaugural 'Over the Top' Eventing State of Origin Challenge to be fought out at Morgan Park, Warwick 21-24 March.

The following teams have been chosen:

QLD NSW
Stuart Tinney (C) Natalie Blundell (C)
Rebel Morrow Hayley Frielick
Isobel English Matthew Constance
Dean Morris Alicia Seery
Brianne Herrernan Emily Hann

The competition will involve match-ups in the 3*, 2* and 1* classes with a winner takes all purse of $5,000.

$500 cash for the winner of the Warwick Puissance Comp

When - 4.30pm on Saturday 23rd of March. 
Where - Morgan Park, Warwick
Cost - $10 per horse 

A Puissance competition will be held as part of the entertainment at the Davcar Horse Floats QLD International Three Day Event, at Morgan Park, Warwick (21-24 March). 

The committee is offering $500 cash to the winner. The competition is expected to start at 4.30pm on Saturday 23rd of March. Riders will pay $10 per horse and can enter on the day.

Trans Tasman Champion to lead NSW in 'State of Origin' Challenge

Natalie Blundell, member of the victorious 2012 Australian Trans Tasman eventing team and long listed rider for 2012 Olympics who claimed 2nd place at the 2012 Adelaide International 48 event has been appointed captain of the NSW team to take on Stuart Tinney's Qld team in the inaugural Over the Top State of Origin on horseback at the Davcar Horse Floats Qld International Three Day Event 21- 24 March at Warwick.

Natalie, highly regarded in eventing circles for her elegant dressage and tenacious cross country style, will be making her first visit to Qld. She said she is looking forward to the opportunity to test the Morgan Park track at Warwick. She has warned the Queenslanders not to be too confident of success since she believes NSW will mount a strong challenge in seeking to be the first winner of the State of Origin purse.

Entries for the QI3DE have been extended without late fee until 15/3/13. In addition since weather patterns have disrupted rider preparation for the event , expressions of interest are being sought from riders who wish to enter for a CIC1* or CIC2* event.

‘War Horse’ tackles our horses at Warwick Three Day Event State of Origin Showdown March 21-24

Kangaroo and Origin legend SHANE WEBCKE will be guest of honour at the Queensland International Three Day Event at Warwick from March 21st to 24th 2013.

Since hanging up the footy boots after Grand Final victory with the Broncos in 2006, Shane has never been busier.

He’s the face of Channel 7 sport, is a highly sought after corporate speaker, penned his best seller memoirs ’Warhorse’ and continues to mentor up and coming players at the Broncos.

Warwick Three Day Event Committee President Dr Cameron Osborne says Shane Webcke is a great boost for this year’s competition.

“Shane will be out and about at Warwick’s Morgan Park course on Saturday afternoon, March 23rd, signing autographs and mingling with fans and riders.

“We might even entice ‘Warhourse’ Webcke onto the back of a horse, if he’s brave enough.” said Dr Osborne with a laugh.

This year’s Warwick Three Day contest will feature a chase for individual glory and for the first time, a team’s competition, with the Queensland squad throwing down the gauntlet to their NSW counterparts in a winner takes all State Of Origin showdown.

Olympic Gold medallist Stuart Tinney will Captain of the “Over the Top” Queensland team for this year’s gruelling test of both horse and rider.

Eventing is the ultimate endurance test of rider and horse, with three disciplines – showjumping, cross country and dressage contested over three gruelling days at Warwick’s Morgan Park.

Another Olympian signs up for Eventing State of Origin

David Green, triple Olympian and International coach has been appointed as Chef d'Equipe to the Qld team which will contest the 'Over the Top' Eventing State of Origin challenge against NSW at the Davcar Horse Floats Qld International 3 Day Event to be held at Morgan Park, Warwick from the 21st to 24th March.

David, a born and bred Queenslander, was a member of the Australian Eventing Team that won team GOLD at the 1992 Olympics and he represented Australia in Eventing at the 1988,1992 and 1996 Olympics. He has an enviable international record winning many of the prestigious international eventing competitions during his career which included Australian representation on multiple occasions .

David has an equally notable coaching CV having coached a Canadian rider who competed at the Sydney Olympics and the Irish Eventing team at the European Championships as well as assisting former Australian Eventing Coach, Wayne Roycroft , coach European based Australian riders.

This wealth of experience and knowledge will be invaluable to the soon to be finalised Qld team for the inaugural State of Origin challenge against what is expected to be a talented NSW line up.

Gold medallist confirmed for Warwick State of Origin Showdown March 21-24

Sydney 2000 Olympics Gold Medallist Stuart Tinney is a confirmed starter in this year's much anticipated Davcar Horse Floats Queensland International Three Day Event at Warwick from March 21st to 24th 2013.

Stuart has also been named Captain of the “Over the Top” Queensland team for this year’s gruelling test of both horse and rider, which has been dubbed ‘State Of Origin’ on horseback.

This year’s contest will feature a chase for individual glory and for the first time, a team’s competition, with the Queensland squad throwing down the gauntlet to their NSW counterparts in a winner takes all showdown.

“Although I’m now based in NSW, I’m a born and bred Queenslander, and I can’t wait to show the Blues how it’s done” said Tinney, with a smile.

Warwick Three Day Event Committee President Dr Cameron Osborne says entries for this year’s competition opened on January 28th.

“The excitement is really building. We’ve had interest from as far afield as WA, who have enquired about fielding a team in 2014, and the rivalry has begun with tweets from half way across the world,” Dr Osborne said.

“We’re thrilled to have an Olympic gold medallist of the calibre of Stuart Tinney competing helping spark interest in the event from around Australia.” said Dr Osborne.

OTT takes on State of Origin Challenge

OTT today announced that they will be the official naming rights sponsor of the inaugural Eventing State of Origin competition between Qld and NSW at the 2013 Qld International 3DE on 21 - 24 March. The State of Origin will be the feature event of the QI3DE.

Karl Steininger, proprietor of “Over the Top” equipment, whose generosity is well known in Australian equestrian circles has once again demonstrated his support for Australian eventing.

In announcing the OTT sponsorship Karl expressed delight at the opportunity to support both NSW and Qld riders to test their skills against each other in what promises to be an exciting and close fought event.

Davcar Horse Floats QLD International 3DE website launched

With the domestic eventing season coming to an end, climaxing with the recent spectacular Australian International 3DE,both riders and horses are looking forward to a well-earned rest to recharge the batteries for what promises to be a spectacular 2013 eventing season.

In 2013 the jewel in the crown of the Qld eventing season will be the Qld International 3 Day Event at Warwick from 21-24March 2013 when traditional interstate rivalry will be sparked in the inaugural Qld -v-NSW  Eventing “State of Origin “competition in the CCI** Class.

CCI 1* competitors will soon be advised of a new national initiative in their class which will be both exciting and profitable.
