Five Australians officiate at the World Equestrian Games

Our Australian athletes were not the only ones representing our country at the recent World Equestrian Games. Susie Hoevenaars joined the ground jury for Dressage, dual Olympian Gillian Rolton served as the President of the Eventing ground jury, Sharyn Gregory accepted the invitation to be the chief classifier for the Para Dressage and Chris Wallis and Lindy Young were stewards for the Eventing competition.

Susie Hoevenaars has officiated all over the world including prestigious events such as the World Cup Finals, Asian Games and Aachen. Susie described her Ground Jury role as a top honour along with being a huge responsibility.  “Although it was a very gruelling and demanding week of judging, it was such an honour to be selected as one of the best judges in the world. And I wanted to prove that I deserved to be there” reflected Hoevenaars.

“It was great to see all countries represented showing the development of dressage around the globe” said Hoevenaars. At the medal ceremony for Dressage, FEI President HRH Princess Haya acknowledged the judges panel and thanked them for their hard work throughout the games.

EA congratulates all the Officials on their appointments and is proud to have such strong Australian representation at world class events like the World Equestrian Games.
