Perth Horse Trials Wooroloo Entries Are Open

Entries are open for Perth Horse Trials Association’s first event of this season, Wooroloo CCN-S (11-12 May), which is held at Wooroloo Prison Farm by kind permission of the Department of Corrective Services.

“We are so fortunate to have a unique and long-standing relationship with the Department of Corrective Services which gives us access to the extensive area at Wooroloo Prison Farm to facilitate a top class cross country track over undulating terrain designed by our international course designer, Wayne Copping,” explains Event Director, Kerrie Robbins.

In 2018, PHTA engaged Ed Murphy as show jumping course designer, and his courses have been commended as challenging but fair by competitors.

“We try to keep making improvements to the event experience and Ed’s expertise was a welcome addition to our event team,” continued Kerrie.

Significant investment was also made into the event infrastructure last year, with a $20,000 upgrade to the cross country water complex made possible with generous support from BGC Quarries.

New for 2019, Wooroloo will also host a combined training class at 45cm, a great introduction for inexperienced riders and horses looking to get a taste for the event.

PHTA are upgrading medical cover for riders and spectators in 2019, with a dedicated trauma doctor on site to support the event paramedics, in response to the new Safety Initiatives being implemented by Equestrian Australia.

“We’ve always had a strong focus on safety, and this seemed like a wise step to ensure the highest possible level of medical support is available quickly should any accidents occur,” explained Kerrie.

Entries are open for all classes for Wooroloo CCN-S (11-12 May) from Ev65 to CCN4*  on www.ktrials.com.au. Spectators are most welcome, entry is free with an excellent variety of refreshments for sale.

The event is signed off Old Northam Rd, 8km from Chidlow/Lake Leschenaultia turnoff.
