Rose races to victory at NSW Exhibition Eventing Qualifier

Shane Rose and APH Rusalka

Shane Rose kept his undefeated record at exhibition eventing intact when he won the second and final qualifying event for this year's Be the Influence Equestrian Grand Final.

A flawless jumping round which included safe passage over the joker fence catapulted Rose and APH Rusalka from seventh position following the dressage phase into first position after all combinations had taken to the jumping course.

The second exhibition eventing qualifier was held in conjunction with the Wallaby Hill Horse Trials and despite warm and sunny conditions the extreme wind provided the field with an extra challenge.

Rose was the first rider to take to the jumping course and made it look easy when he raced towards the finish line without any jumping faults.

No other combination could replicate their performance and they finished the competition with a six point advantage.

Other riders to gain automatic qualification to the Final include Crystal Conning who has recently taken over the ride on Emma Scott’s Mustang, Jade Findlay (Frontier Psychiatrist) and Elizabeth Lowery (KL Kismet).

The field for the final will extend to 15 with EA to awards a further seven wild card entries.

The Be the Influence Equestrian Grand Final for Exhibition Eventing will take place on Friday 8 November under the lights of the dome arena at Sydney Showground. Entry to this Final is included with general admission to EQUITANA Sydney, 7-10 November 2013.
