Serena Ireland and Royalty R complete memorable World Cup Final appearance in Fort Worth

Australia’s Serena Ireland and Royalty R have wrapped up a memorable campaign at the FEI Dressage World Cup Final in Fort Worth, Texas, finishing 15th in the Grand Prix Freestyle after progressing through the opening Grand Prix qualifier. For an Australian combination stepping onto one of the sport’s biggest stages, it was a significant week and a proud moment for everyone who has followed their journey.

Serena and Royalty R opened their World Cup Final with a score of 64.087 per cent in the Grand Prix, which secured their place in the Freestyle. They then returned for the final test to post 68.545 per cent, improving their score and closing out the competition with another valuable international result.

That alone made it an important achievement. The World Cup Final brings together many of the best combinations in the world, and for Serena and Royalty R to line up in Fort Worth as Australia’s representatives was a reflection of the work that has gone into building the partnership to this level.

Royalty R, known as Rusty at home, is an Australian-bred gelding by Regardez Moi out of Jive Magic. Serena has produced him through the levels, and their appearance in Fort Worth was a reminder of what can be achieved through patience, consistency and a strong partnership developed over time.

The pair also carried a special sense of occasion for Australian Dressage supporters. Championship appearances like this matter, not only for the rider and connections directly involved, but also because they give the wider Australian equestrian community something to celebrate and rally behind on the world stage.

After qualifying through the Pacific League, Serena took her place in Texas and embraced the opportunity to compete against an outstanding international field. From the horse inspection through to the final centreline, it was a week that added another important chapter to the story of both horse and rider.

The title in Fort Worth went to Great Britain’s Becky Moody and Jagerbomb, but from an Australian perspective there was every reason to look on Serena and Royalty R’s World Cup Final with pride. To complete both phases of the event, improve from the first test to the second, and finish 15th in the Freestyle was a result that reflected a successful and meaningful campaign.

For Equestrian Australia, Serena and Royalty R’s performance was another welcome example of Australian combinations stepping forward on the international stage. Their week in Fort Worth will be remembered as an important milestone, and one that gives plenty of encouragement for the future.
