Christie Freeman steps down after three years of dedicated service
Equestrian Australia is sad to announce that Christie Freeman has stepped down as the Chair of the Board, concluding three years of dedicated leadership and service to our organisation and its members.
Throughout her tenure Christie brought unparalleled commitment to this role which, as a volunteer, she undertook as though it were a full-time position. She provided steadfast leadership as one of the first member-elected Directors of our Federation, and guided us through a range of challenges and opportunities following the Voluntary Administration of our Sport. Christie was guided by a strong belief in reforming EA, the importance of good governance and the value of equestrian sport in Australia.
In a Statement Christie said she “ wanted to thank the members of Equestrian Australia for their support during my tenure as an EA Board member and Chair, and for repeatedly electing me on a platform of restructure. I have had literally thousands of conversations with people in all aspects of our sport about the need for a streamlined administration and for money, resources and decision-making to be directed to the disciplines and to the grass roots committees who make the sport happen.”
Christie’s leadership was marked by a tireless work ethic, an unwavering belief in reforming our federation for the future, serving the members and ensuring equitable access to facilities and resources for our sports. From governance reform to the strengthening of national pathways, her contribution has been enormous and deeply appreciated by the board, staff, volunteers, and the broader equestrian community.
On behalf of Equestrian Australia, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Christie for her service, vision, and unwavering support of our sport. We wish her every success in her future endeavours.
An announcement regarding interim leadership arrangements will follow in due course.
