Australian Para Dressage Combinations Deliver Strong Performances at Boneo CPEDI

Australian Para Dressage riders produced a strong weekend of competition at the Boneo CPEDI 3* Leader Equine Dressage Spectacular, held at Boneo Park over the weekend.

The event marked the third of four Australian-based qualifying events for the FEI Para Dressage World Championships, which will take place in Aachen, Germany, in August. With selection opportunities continuing to build, the Boneo CPEDI provided another important chance for combinations to demonstrate their consistency, technical accuracy and expression in front of an experienced ground jury.

Sunday’s Freestyle classes brought the competition to a close, with riders showcasing both the technical requirements of their grades and the creative elements that make Freestyle competition such a compelling part of Para Dressage. The ground jury for the event included Linda Warren Davey from New Zealand, Marco Orsini from Germany, Jane Ventura from Australia, and President of the Ground Jury Lisa Baker from Australia.

In the CPEDI 3* Grand Prix Freestyle classes, Lisa Martin and Villagio took the win in Grade V with a score of 77.559%. In Grade IV, Helen Batson and MSJ Tia Fortuna placed first on 72.908%, while Claire Graham and Furst Olli 3 won Grade III with 73.422%. Bridget Murphy and Penmain Promise topped the Grade II field with 72.400%, and Kylie Christian and Ivan Carlos placed first in Grade I with a score of 69.845%.

The CPEDI 2* Intermediate Freestyle classes also produced several strong performances. Deborah Hodgson and Maserati won the Grade V class with 63.050%, Michele Duthy and Haluma Park Siorus placed first in Grade IV on 61.692%, Emma Booth and Glenhill Divine Classic won Grade III with 70.456%, and Kate Nipperess and Dame Remi Wolverine took the Grade II win with 67.956%.

The event was supported by a dedicated team of officials, judges, stewards, organisers, volunteers, vets and classifiers, with particular thanks extended to the judges and stewards who travelled internationally to support the competition. Events of this level play an important role in strengthening Australia’s Para Dressage pathway and providing riders with valuable opportunities to compete under international conditions on home soil.

Equestrian Australia also extends its thanks to Jade Woodhead-Butler and the Carlton Performance Horses team for hosting another excellent event at Boneo Park.

The final Australian-based qualifying event for the FEI Para Dressage World Championships will be held from 13 to 15 June in Sydney, as part of the Hawkesbury Dressage Festival at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
