2017 Sydney International Horse Trials is underway

Victorian based rider Robert Palm was all smiles on the eve of the Sydney International Horse Trials today after being named Noble Outfitters "best-dressed male" at the Trot Up.

"I just do as I am told and put on what I'm told," he laughed.

After all of his horses were passed fit to compete over the next three days Robert then slipped back into his riding gear to prepare for competition which starts tomorrow.

"I'm very happy. They have travelled up well. They're feeling really well and we are hoping for a good event."

Robert has two horses entered in the CIC3* - Koko Story and his stunning 17.2hh bay mare Halcyons Dark Secret (pictured). And he will also line up with two emerging horses in the CCI1*Bellbirds Sandpiper and Jaybee Vibrant.

Robert was this week named by Equestrian Australia as a senior member of the 2017 Oceania Championships team.

"I'm very excited, it's my first senior Australian representative team. A lot of water has to go under the bridge with four weeks to go until Melbourne Three Day Event where we compete but hopefully it all stays in one piece."

The dressage phases of the 2017 Sydney International Horse Trials start tomorrow from 8 am.

Entry is free every day so come along and see some of Australia's most exciting and talented riders in action.
