Burton bags another victory

Chris Burton won the Hartpury International Horse Trials CIC3* over the weekend notching up victory at this event for the second consecutive year. The win is Burton's second major international event title for 2013 after he also won Aachen CIC3* for the second time in as many years.

In 2012 Burton won at Hartpury with Kinnordy Rivaldo and this year he shared the top honours with the 11 year old mareTempranillo. The duo was the only combination to finish on their dressage score of 41.70 after producing clear cross country and show jumping rounds.

“I’m very excited and very happy to win two years in a row.

“The little mare did a great little test and we were chuffed with that. (Course Designer) Eric Winter prepared a great course and we went round really well,” he said.

Burton will line-up for Australia later this week in the WEG test event for eventing with the eight year old gelding Graf Liberty.

A host of other Australians competed at Hartpury including Olympians Lucinda Fredericks, Wendy Schaeffer and Sam Griffiths. They were supported by National Performance Director Prue Barrett and Olympic gold medallist Stuart Tinney who are in the northern hemmisphere to attend this week's WEG test event.
