CEO Update: December

As we reach the final days of 2022, we reflect on a year of progress, clarity and implementation.

It was not without its challenges on the tail end of COVID and significant weather events, but the industry resilience and adaptability shone through to deliver some significant milestones and achievements that will set the sport up for more success in 2023.

Here are the highlights of the year for 2022.

  1. The Nationally Aligned Strategy was developed in collaboration with the disciplines and state branches and in consultation with stakeholders including members. It was a thorough process and work to complete the structural recommendations is in the final stages for completion.

  2. We strengthened our child safety protocols by implementing compulsory Working with Children Checks or equivalents for our officials. This has been in place for coaches for a while, but the extension to include officials, demonstrates our commitment to creating a safe environment for children.

  3. Implementing the new Learning Management System (LMS) called the Equestrian Learning Centre. This means education can be accessed easily and delivered consistently for our community. while the initial content will support our EA Accredited Coaches, future planned material includes content for our EA Officials, Athletes, Volunteers and Parents of Athletes.  This is a massive leap forward for our digital strategy.

  4. The online digital community grew by 15% and we see this as an important passage for the sport growth in both reaching new audiences and improving communication and engagement with our members.

  5. During National Volunteer Week, we recognised the significant impact volunteers have on our sport including the running of events, committees and day-to-day operations. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers for your time, passion and expertise!

  6. The Equestrian Aus Team did us proud competing over in Herning and Pratoni for the FEI World Championships. A special congratulations to Boyd Exell for taking GOLD in the Driving a truly exciting and inspiring moment for the sport.

  7. In the space of diversity and inclusion, we made significant steps towards making our sport more inclusive and committed to developing a Reconciliation Action Plan.

  8. We continued to lead the way in Health & Safety with the development of the Health, Safety & Welfare policies for athletes and horses.

  9. We strengthened our financial position through good governance and the Board and our senior leadership team remain committed to making sustainable decisions for the future of the sport.

I want to wish everyone in our community a safe and happy Christmas. We all look forward to an event filled 2023 for equestrian.
