EA Para Classifier Course
The Para Classifier Course was a joint initiative conducted by Equestrian Australia, Para Equestrian programme and Paralympics Australia for new officials wanting to achieve EA Para Classifier accreditation.
The course was expertly led by Sharyn Gregory, EA and FEI Head Classifier, who guided participants through the technical and practical foundations of Para Equestrian classification.
Delivered through a series of online learning sessions, the programme culminated in two in-person modules held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre on 31st January and 1st February. These face-to-face sessions allowed participants to consolidate their learning through hands-on discussion and practical application.
The course brought together four participants, all from physiotherapy or medical backgrounds, whose expertise and enthusiasm added significant value to the learning experience.
Para Performance Pathways Lead Sam Bolton and Paralympics Australia Classification Specialist Breanna Baardwijk took time to talk to the participants to help them gain understanding of athlete pathways and classification.
Over the coming months, participants will complete the required practical components of the accreditation process. Once finalised, Australia’s Para Classifier ranks will continue to grow which is an important step in strengthening the future of Para Equestrian sport nationwide.
Thanks to Nicole Kennedy for being our athelete for the practical classification session.
We are incredibly fortunate to have Sharyn Gregory based in Australia and sincerely grateful for the time, expertise, knowledge, and passion she brings to developing new classifiers. A massive thank you to Sharyn, and all participants on taking time to attend.
