Hearn wins Sydney CDI Grand Prix

New South Wales rider Sue Hearn has won the Sydney CDI Grand Prix - the final event in Australia for Rio hopefuls to obtain qualifying scores for upcoming Olympic nomination events in Europe.

Partnering with her 14 year old warmblood gelding Remmington, Hearn received a score of 68.42, narrowly defeating the second placed combination of Judy Dierks and Diamond Star which earned 68.26 from the judges.

Robbie Soster riding Robali Razzamatazz finished third with a score of 66.88, ensuring it was a clean sweep for NSW riders.

Hearn wants be among the eight Australian riders that will go head to head at two Olympic nomination events in Europe and which will determine the team of four that will represent Australia in Rio.

In today’s Grand Prix she said she couldn’t have asked for more of her horse.

“He was sharp and he’s much better when he’s sharp,” she said. “He felt beautiful to ride and he had positive energy but you never know what’s going to happen.”

“I thought it was a lovely test but it is up to the judges and they liked it to too which was great,” said Hearn.

Equestrian Australia will name the eight dressage riders that will go head to head at the two Rio Olympic nomination events in Europe on or before 15 April 2016.
