Heath Ryan has fall at the Rolex Kentucky International Three-Day EventHeath Ryan, who was competing with his horse Flame at this event, apparently had a heavy fall on the cross-country and was taken to the medical centre. He appears to be fine. More news when they come to hand.
The cross-country day was marred when Amy Tyron's horse Le Samurai (USA) collapsed at the finish. In a statement given by Rolex veterinarian, Dr. Catherine W. Kohn V.M.D ,"Le Samurai had experienced an injury, and it appears that he lost the supporting ligaments in his left front leg. He was given a mild sedative to keep him comfortable, and he’s being treated at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute."

Gill Rolton reports: After a wet week and sloshy arena for the dressage phase, cross-country day dawned slightly overcast and cool. The footing was absolutely perfect, the course considered big and particularly technical in places, which had riders thinking that time was going to be tough to make. It was also long – nearly 11 and a half minutes. With the dressage scores as close as they were, the cross-country was definitely going to create a make-or-break atmosphere, so the stage was set for a great days cross-country. Fifteenth out and first out for us, Wendy Schaeffer on Koyuna
Heath Ryan started out well but had an uncharacteristic runout at an Apex early on and unfortunately finished the round having a very heavy fall at the Dray just before the last water jump.
At the end of the day, Clayton finished on 53.0 in 3rd place, 4.8 penalties behind the leader, young rider Kristin Bachman on Gryffindor on 48.2. In second place are Heidi White and Northern Spy on 52.0. Wendy Schaeffer and Koyuna Sun Magic finished in 7th place overnight on 57.6, just 9.4 behind the leader. Both Sun Magic and Ben Along Time pulled up well and flew through the trot-up . With only 32 left in the competition, the showjumping will not start until 1.30pm local time. We should be in for a nail biting
