Sonja Johnson and Ringwould Jaguar win 2007 Taupo CCI***
This is a great win for the AUS Team member after the disappointment of Australia not being able to field a team to complete the Trans-Tasman competition in the Jumping Test. The CCI** event was won by another Australian, John Twomey on his mount Highly Recommended. John lives in Cambridge (NZL).
After the Horse Inspection
After Georgia Clifford's elimination on the cross-country yesterday, more bad news followed this morning when the AUS Team decided not to present Cludia Graham's horse Blazing Chief at the Horse Inspection. This makes it impossible for the AUS Team to continue and hands the Trans-Tasman Trophy to New Zealand.
The good news is, however, that AUS Team member Sonja Johnson and Ringwould Jaguar are leading the CCI*** and individual starters Emily Anker and Balmoral Cavalier are in third position.
Saturday, 19 May 2007Although we have not been able to get a copy of official results as yet, usually reliable sources tell us that Australia is just over 16 points behind NZL after the cross-country.
There was some confusion earlier about whether Australia's first ride, Claudia Graham and Blazing Chief, had a run-out at the water. The decision of the fence judge seems to have been overturned on protest.
Both AUS and NZL had some luck at various jumps, with NZL's very last ride Bryce Newman on Bates Our Questionnaire topping the show with a spectacular "clinger" (to his horse's neck) after getting unseated in the very last section of the course.
