Shane Rose and Statford Novalis get Bronze at the Olympic Test Event
A great result for our Australian representatives at the HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup in Hong Kong. Megan Jones and Kirby Park Fedwell finished 4th, just missing out on a medal. Congratulations to both!!! Bronze Medallist Shane Rose had this to say: "I was quite happy with the horse on the flat. The Dressage was good. Maybe I could have got a few more points but after seeing the sheets, I thought I wasn’t far off the mark. On the cross-country, I thought I rode the horse to a plan, which was very good. He got a little tired about three quarters down the course. I brought him home as quickly and as safely as I could. We got a few time penalties, which compared to the filed was pretty good for a horse that is quite heavy and galloping is probably not so natural to him. He recovered really well. The trot-up was good. In the first round of Jumping, he was quite spooky at a lot of things, especially at the (display) horse that was in the arena. At the first fence I had down, I just got a little deep and he was a little flat and probably just did not jump high enough. I should have given him a little more room but it did not happen. At the second fence I had down, he shied very badly at the horse and I was on a very bad line towards the fence with disunited canter and just got a very bad distance unfortunately. In the second round he was very good. Wayne helped me warm him up, and we did a really good job and he jumped really well. We have learned a huge amount from this event with the two very different horses. Megan (Jones) did a brilliant job with hers. I think we have got a very deep knowledge base to come back here next year and hopefully do very well." ____More photos later. ____________
