This was one of the first multi-state events for dressage since the the equine influenza outbreak and it was great to see everyone out competing again.

Teams from South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland made the trek to Werribee which provided a strong teams competition. In the novice to medium teams competition Queensland were the winners with South Australia 2nd, Victoria 3rd and NSW 4th. In the Advanced to Intermediate 1 level Victoria took out 1st place with NSW 2nd and SA 3rd. Several of our national young rider squad members had a successful competition taking out major prizes.
Australian Paralympic rider Hanna Dodd also met some milestones; she has missed the young rider championships for various reasons over the last few years but she made it a successful debut with placings in most classes.

Our New Zealand guests also had a very rewarding visit with riders Rebecca Goldsworthy and Emma Malcolm (score 240.667) narrowly taking out the Trans Tasman Challenge derby from Australian riders Robbie Soster and Jodie Newall (score 239.221). Rebecca also took out champion novice horse with Mayfield Miracle kindly loaned by Kerry Mac. Kerry's mother also loaned Emma a horse to ride in the novice classes.

The organising committee did a wonderful job to provide a well-run event with fashion parades, evening entertainment, educational demonstrations as well as generous prizes and great hospitality, this all helped to make it a memorable return to competition. Thank you very much to the generous sponsors and the loan horse owners, judges and volunteers. Next year the championships move to Queensland so start planning your trip now.
