Success for Australian Carriage Drivers
Victory for Australia at Sandringham Horse Driving Trials, and Boyd Exell is currently in 4th place in Aachen. Boyd Exell won the Horse 4-in-hand event at Sandringham Horse Driving Trials, a national competition in the
Fellow Australians, Jessica Meredith won the Pony Pairs and Graham Heath came second in the Novice Horse.
On 05 July Boyd Exell was coming 4th in the Wohnwelt Pallen Marathon 4-in-Hand competition at Aachen CHIO after the Dressage phase on a score of 71.60%. Unfortunately, Boyd's carriage overturned at obstacle 7 on the marathon course. Boyd's groom suffered minor injuries to his face and was kept in hospital overnight. The competition was won by 28-year-old German driver Michael Brauchle. The Dutch driver Koos de Ronde came second ahead of the French driver Benjamin Allaud. Ijsbrand Chardon finished fourth.
