Farewell to AUS-based members of the Olympic Eventing Team
The Eventing community farewelled Megan Jones, Sonja Johnson and Shane Rose at the function following the 'Olympic Hitout' at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. (More photos at the bottom of this page.)
Australia-based members of the Olympic Eventing team Megan Jones, Sonja Johnson and Shane Rose plus reserves Wendy Schaeffer and Chris Burton took part in 4-star Dressage and Jumping as part of the "Olympic Hitout" at SIEC. EFA President Geoff Sinclair was the Master of Ceremonies for a farewell function after the event, which packed the mess hall near the stables. Geoff asked the team members to tell the audience of their plans and expectation for the month ahead, including the Pre-Export Quarantine that will start on Tuesday. SIEC will be declared a quarantine area for that purpose. Riders and horses will leave for Hong Kong seven days later. Everyone rose to cheer the team members and wish them the best of luck at the Olympic Games.
