Applications are open for the 2009-2010 round of Sports Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women and close on 11th May.

The ASC amd Office for Women's Sport Leadership Grants and Scholarships are offered to inpsire and assist women in the sports industry to reach their full potential in leadership, through education and development opportunities.

The ASC program has been in place since November 2002. Over the last seven years to September 2008 more than 15,600 women from across Australia have benefited from grants worth more than $2.4 million!

In that time, there have been several Equestrian Officials / Coaches / Members who have been successful in applying for an individual grant or scholarship as well as organisation applications.

The ASC invites women from all areas and levels of the Australian sports community to apply, including

• sport managers and administrators
• media, marketing and communication officers
• coaches,
• officials
• sport governance

Women from culturally diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women in rural and regional areas and women with a disability are encouraged to apply.

The grants / scholarships are available for both individuals and organisations. The 2009 / 10 grants are different than previous years with all applications now on-line and the inclusion of a 3 year scholarship for individuals.

• female
• established in a paid or volunteer capacity in community sport;
• available to attend an ASC Sport Leadership Workshop;
• an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent residence status;
• aged 18 years or more;
• supported by a sporting organisation affiliated with a sport that is recognised by the ASC.

• affiliated with sports recognised by the Australian Sports Commission;
• available to attend an ASC Sport Leadership Workshop;
• committed to support, encourage and provide appropriate ongoing opportunities for female beneficiaries of the grant.
