Boyd Exell won his third World Cup Driving qualifier for the season in Budapest last weekend.
Finishing 8 seconds ahead of second placed Koos de Ronde (NED) Boyd added yet another victory to his list. He has won all but one of his World Cup starts this season, Hannover in October, Stuttgart in November and now Budapest. In Carriage Driving the drivers choose 4 events to compete and then drop their worst performance. Boyd will discard his performance in Stockholm in November (where he finished second) and is therefore certain of a place in the World Cup Final in Geneva in April 2010 - where he will be defending his title.
Although he has completed 4 competitions already Boyd plans to drive in one more World Cup qualifier in Mechelen - where he has been given a wildcard entry. Then his focus will be on Geneva. Boyd currently leads the World Cup pointscore by 11 points over 2nd placed Koos De Ronde. The top 6 competitors at the end of the qualifying rounds will be offered a place in the Final.
Well done Boyd
